How We Choose Our Bumper Plates
We are very unforgiving when it comes to bumper plates. We have tried various bumper plates from the cheap bumper plates on Amazon, to Hi Temp bumper plates, to Eleiko bumper plates. Many of these had a lot drawbacks, whether bouncing too much Hi Temps, falling apart because they are cheaply made – Amazon, or too expensive – Eleiko. The Hi Temp bumper plates would bounce into my shins if I was lifting with them outside or I’d have to chase my bar sometimes. Also, I noticed a difference when it came to lifting heavy weight as the big bounce made it easier.

Silver Recommendation – Pendlay Econ V2 Bumper Plates (free shipping!)
The Pendlay Econ Bumper Plates are a great choice if you’re looking to get the best bumper plates money can by while still being economical. The Pendlay Econ bumper plates come with a flawless surface area, high durability, and an accurate weight versus the claimed weight. Pendlay claims they are +/- 10 grams of the stated weight, which is an extremely tight tolerance for the price. You won’t see any other bumper plates within this range.
Having personally used them, and knowing many of my friends who have used them, I don’t know a single person who has complained about them for any reason. They have a dead blow bounce which makes it so you don’t have to worry about the bar smashing into stuff in your garage, chasing it off the platform, or hurling into someone if you’re lifting with partner. The Rogue Hi-Temps bounce a great deal which make the bar go flying and also it does work for you, which we really don’t like.
All of Pendlay’s bumper plates come with free shipping, even on the bumper plate sets which come in 160lbs, 210lbs, 230lbs, and 340lbs! Check them out by clicking HERE.
Gold+ Recommendation – Pendlay Elite Bumper Plates (free shipping!)

If you have the cash, or are a committed Olympic lifter, then the Pendlay Elite bumper plates is where it is at. These are some of the best bumper plates on the market and like the plates above, this is the more traditional olympic weight lifting bumper plate which has a dead blow bounce when dropped. This is usually preferred by most olympic weight lifters because they are frequently working with very heavy weights and don’t want 300 lbs bouncing on their feet. The bumpers are guaranteed to be within 10 grams of the claimed weight, and the zinc plated steel disk makes a great fit around the bar so there is no loose loose fitting. Another really unique thing about these bumpers is that you have a wide variety of coloring options, from black, to two-tone, to full color, and the weight can be in either pounds or kilos.
These are very similar to the Rogue compitition plates, but cheaper if you buy them in a set. This way, you can have very nice bumper plates, and save some cash. Also, these are printed right here in the U.S.A. in South Carolina, where they have specially designed ink to make sure these maintain their sleek look. They do this to keep strict quality control, and make sure the finished product is perfect for you. The Pendlay Elite bumper plates come in sets of 210lbs and 320lbs and all the Pendlay Elite bumper plates come with free shipping!

Why Olympic Bumper Plates?
What is the point of grabbing some olympic bumper plates? Why can’t you continue to do Olympic lifts with regular metal plates? Well, anyone has been doing Olympic lifts for any amount of time, should know that you will fail on some of your attempts. It isn’t even failing, it is striving for bigger weights every single time, failing is just part of the process. If you aren’t failing in some of your attempts, then you aren’t doing it right.
Olympic Bumper Plates
Grabbing some quality olympic bumper plates is important too, because I have seen cheap olympic bumper plates fail after only a year of use. That is why it makes sense to invest some money into bumper plates that will last you a long time, and not only a handful of months. Especially since I can guarantee you that those olympic bumper plates will probably only have a 30 or 60 day warranty. Keep this in mind, and spend a few extra bucks on some quality olympic bumper plates.
